Over the past few years, I have
relentlessly done my personal
research and study on Blue Ocean
Strategy (BOS). In addition, I have
also attended various courses on
BOS, conducted by non-certified BOS
Trainers. I thought I have already
understood the theory and
application of the BOS very well.
However, after attending the 3 days
BOS Practitioners' Course in Kuala
Lumpur (UCSI Blue Ocean Strategy
Regional Centre) on March 25-27,
2009, conducted by Mr Jason Hunter,
I discovered many hidden insights on
the application of the BOS tools
that were not revealed in the
published BOS book. Some areas that
I have found ambiguous and could not
grasp fully are now crystal clear to
me. My newly learned insights,
unknown to non-certified BOS
Trainers, determine the failure or
success on the application of BOS.
Now that the original BOS is coming
to China in its purest and undiluted
form, it will prevent the businesses
in China from being misled by
erroneous teaching on BOS. This is
good news for the industries in
China.

The best session I have attended on
business strategy/growth because of
its practical nature. The group
exercises and interaction on the
tables was essential to helping the
understanding and learning process.
Personally the Master class
challenged me regarding my
non-clients, points of pain for
clients, decision makers and
influencers. I have made a number of
decisions on how I will deal
differently (than the industry) with
my decision makers and influencers
based on the Master class. It has
also broadened my thinking regarding
questions and things to consider as
we build our business.
Very helpful strategy, that is very
accessible, to an organization
facing the question "how do we grow
this business". It would seem that
once the "supply side" of growth is
perfected, this is a great strategy
to look at the "demand side".
Perhaps it needs to be better
positioned as to when in its
evolution a business would use this
strategy.

"Attended this workshop with very
little knowledge of BOS. This
workshop was a great introduction
into BOS principles and tools. We
are currently competing in red
oceans across most of our product
categories. We have attended
previous workshops and had
consultants coming in but it was all
too complex and did not help us. We
have been trying to create
breakthrough ideas, products and
opportunities with little success.
With the tools we have learnt from
BOS, it is practical, simple and a
lot of it is common sense. The
